I got my B.A. and M.A. in English from The University of Tennessee and earned my Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from The University of Chicago. I have taught composition, literature, film, humanities, and freshman orientation classes in full-time teaching positions at Walters State Community College, Tennessee Technological University, and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. I developed Composition II, American Literature II, and Introduction to Humanities I courses for RODP and have taught in that program since its inception. In addition, I serve on the RODP Curriculum Committee and the RODP AA/AS/BIS Curriculum Subcommittees and serve at my home institution, Chattanooga State, as RODP Campus Contact. I am very interested in emerging technologies for online teaching and learning and do a good bit of training both at Chattanooga State and other TBR institutions. As a Faculty Mentor, I am most interested in talking about ways to promote a healthy learning community in the online environment. I have been exploring this idea in my own classes since I began online teaching in 2000, and I enjoy sharing pedagogical theories and techniques with my colleagues from all over the state. |
