This content is needed in all acute care and emergency settinggs by a variety of Healthcare Professional such as nurses, paramedics, EMTs, etc. The content is not provided in detail in most nursing programs and only emergency dysrhythmia is stressed in paramedic and EMT curricula. Having a basic understanding of EKG dysrhythmia is a prerequisite for critical care courses and the American Heart Association's Advanced Life Support course that is required by many healthcare facilities for specific healthcare roles that respond to emergencies and care for critically ill patients.
